Open to Japanese Returnees & Foreign Nationals
"The Wonder of Japan! The Maze of Japan?"
Having returned to Japan or having spent some
time in Japan, have you not encountered the situation where you
were completely astonished or puzzled by certain aspects of
Japan?
T-GAL holds the photo contest which is open to the Japanese
returnees and the foreign nationals residing in Japan. Take
pictures of whatever that struck your mind or caught your
attention, and please send them in along with their written
explanations to T-GAL.
We look forward to receiving your work of art, brimmed with young
and fresh sensitivity!
Applicants' Qualifications:
Those Japanese returnees and the foreign nationals attending the
following schools: elementary schools, junior high schools,
senior high schools, professional/vocational schools, schools for
university entrance preparation, universities
Deadline: Entry by
October 31, 2007. (Valid postmarked October 31.)
Ways of Entering Your Work:
By post
Entry Guidelines:
a) Sizes of Photos: Limited to either 2L-sized
(127 mm x 178 mm) or A4-sized (or 203 mm x 254mm size is also
accepted), colored or black-and-white prints. If you opt to
2L-sized photo, please mount it on an A4-sized cardboard. You may
use any color and quality for the cardboard. At the exhibition,
the submitted work will be displayed in its original form as you
have sent to us.
*Photos taken by digital cameras are accepted, provided that
they are not composite photos.
*The submitted work must be original and unpublished.
b) Number of Works for an Entry: One person can
submit up to 2 pieces of work.
c) Write Your Name on the Back: On the back of
your work, please paste the entry form which is on this page. (A
photocopy of entry form is also accepted.)
d) Explanatory Notes: Please give an account of
"what aspect of" and "in what way" the
subject has caught your attention, and write it on a separate
sheet stating either in Japanese (within 400 letters) or in
English (within 400 words). Write your name on the statement
sheet and send it along with your work.
e) Others: If, by any chance, the picture's
subject includes a person, please do all you can to obtain
his/her consent beforehand. Submitted work shall not be returned,
and T-GAL retains the copyright on the prize-winning works.

Prizes: After
consultation, the judges will select the following prizes/awards:
For Elementary school students:
First Prize---1 piece of work(awarded with a certificate of
merit and a prepaid book card worth 5,000-yen)
Second Prize---1 piece of work (awarded with a certificate of
merit and a prepaid book card worth 3,000-yen)
For Others:
First Prize --- 1 piece of work (awarded with a certificate of
merit and a prepaid book card worth 10,000-yen)
Second Prize --- 2 pieces of work (each awarded with a
certificate of merit and a prepaid book card worth 3,000-yen)
Special Awards --- 3 pieces of work (each awarded with a
certificate of merit and a prepaid book card worth 3,000-yen)
Announcement of Prizewinners:
After November 4, 2007
* Prizewinners will be notified and the results will be
announced on the website of T-GAL.
Photo Exhibition:
November 15th (Thursday) through 18th (Sunday) 11:00~18:00

Sunday, November 18, 2007 13:00~ At the venue where the photo
exhibition is held.

About T-GAL:
Founded in 1997, T-GAL is a group consisting of those members
who have lived abroad and want to make the most of their personal
experiences gained overseas for the betterment of their local
community.
T-GAL plays an active part in various areas: gives classes
at local schools, which helps to raise cultural awareness among
students; invites the speakers and holds lectures; publishes
booklets by making good use of members' experiences acquired
overseas; and sets up gatherings for those families that have
newly returned from abroad.
