The inhabitants of the fictitious Midwestern town, Eastlake, appear content the presence of a nuclear power plant in their town. Even after an explosion at the plant, the bulk of the town heed the calming words of the plant owners on the local news. Except for elevator maintenance man, Brian who sees the explosion as a nightmare that is growing exponentially. Estranged from his family for his drinking and philandering,, he returns to his former home to find his family in sever denial. The conflict drives them even further apart, and Brian becomes an island of a person. White Shadow, in Japanese, signifies the people discarded and disfigured by atomic light. |
