１ ABOUT SEITAI
HOSHIKAI
Seitai Hoshikai = The Institute of the Handmaids of the Holy Eucharist
Seitai Hoshikai is a small institute of Catholic religious women leading a life of dedication, established in 1970 by the late Bishop John Shojiro Ito, then Ordinary of Niigata, Japan.
Members make vows of Obedience, Chastity and Poverty, and follow the
example set by the lives of Jesus Christ and Mary, in offering their lives to
the service of God and to their neighbors.
Seitai Hoshikai is comprised on one hand of Sisters reside at the Motherhouse in Akita,who lead a community life centered on prayer, and on the other hand, of Sisters who lead an apostolic life of evangelization among lay people in society.
2 THE CHAPEL OF SEITAI HOSHIKAI
The chapel of Seitai Hoshikai took on Japanese-style architecture, and was dedicated to Redemptoris Mater (Mother of the Redeemer) on May 1, 2002.

3 OUR LADY OF AKITA
The statue of Our Lady of Akita was carved in 1963 by Mr. Saburo Wakasa, a sculptor in Akita City. This wood sculpture shed tears 101 times from January 4, 1975 to September 15, 1981. The phenomenon was witnessed by a total of 2000 people. Each time the quantity and manner of lachrymations were different and every witness was profoundly touched.
The Garden of Mary
Work on the Japanese garden, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, started in the spring of 1974 and was completed on October 11, 1976. The circular promenade garden was completed by amateurs. Trees were donated by friends from different places throughout Japan.

The Garden of the Lamb
The Garden of the Lamb is for meditaion and prayers. The Way of the Cross was constructed through the center of the Garden and blessed by the Bishop of Niigata Diocese on August 18, 1994.

situated about 10mimutes on foot（an uphill slope）from the bus stop．

Take the Airport Limousin Bus for about 40minutes．Get off at JR Akita Station bus stop.
Take a bus or taxi to the convent.
