I ran along the empty blacktop streets with my boots on which made a noise.  I jumped over fallen electric poles and cables and that made some noise too.  Hearing the footsteps, the ones who I thought were dead sat up abruptly, held out their hands, and collapsed with a crash.

Thinking that I should not be caught by them, I ran avoiding them, which again made some noise.  Then the dead sat up again, showing their black faces.
