Welcome to our Rakugo University official website!

Our Rakugo University(落語大学/らくごだいがく) is one of the official club activity of Kansai University.

We are always studying Japanese traditional comedy style, Rakugo(落語/らくご) and more Manzai(漫才/まんざい) and Conte.

First of all,Rakugo is the most traditional style of Japanese comedy from Edo period. When we play Rakugo, have to wear Kimono, traditional clothes.

Manzai is the most popular style and seen very often on TV or comedy theaters. Two or three people standing on the stage have a enjoyable conversation each other, turning toward a microphone.

If you join our club, you can learn not only how to play Rakugo but also how to play traditional musical instruments, something like Shamisen(三味線/しゃみせん, three stringed thing somewhat similar to Banjo), Taiko(太鼓/たいこ, Japanese drum), Fue(笛/ふえ, Japanese frute) and how to write Yosemoji(寄席文字/よせもじ, special kinds of calligraphy).

These are very important things when we have Rakugo performance (They say it "Yose" in Japanese)

All Kansai University student are warmly welcomed!!

There are some exchange students, from Germany, Russia, Taiwan and more in our club every year.
