Harajuku Cosplay Photos

First of all, I'd like to express my utmost gratitude to those
CosPlay girls in Harajuku whom I photographed. They were extremely
friendly and cooperative even though they hadn't met me before.
And cute, too!
Their enthusiasm toward CosPlay never ceases to amaze me.
Some come from several hundred kilometers away from Tokyo, using
local night trains. Others spend whole afternoon on a scorching
hot summer day entertaining passers-by. I've even seen an angel
with fluffy wings that cost her an arm and a leg, so to speak.
It's their very enthusiasm that encourages me to keep coming back.
I'll continue doing my best to capture their sparkling moment.

For those visitors to my home page (Welcome!) who are not familiar
with CosPlay, this Japanese-originated semi-English term (which is
an abbreviation of Costume Play) means the act of making and wearing
costumes designed after your favorite character from anime, manga,
video games, music bands, or just about anything else. CosPlay has
been gaining an increasing popularity during these few years,
especially among teenage girls in Japan.
Besides the occasional CosPlay conventions that draw hundreds of
thousands of enthusiasts, some CosPlayers can be seen on
the "Jingu-bashi" bridge over the JR train line in Harajuku every
Sunday afternoon, all year around, as long as the weather is fine.
It's fun! It's great! Imagine the sulky faces of security guards
standing at the entrance of Maiji Shrine the bridge is leading to
(Oops)!
