可笑しいとこ栓全部E好肇▲奪廚靴徳E△修Δ靴燭藹佝納劼 掛け合うとのことです。さすがMr. Wagner です。この方、私、知りませんでしたが、 NHKテE3かE/b> 英会話、体当たE儻Eの 講師なんです。折角のWagnerさんの原著が変なE楔Eに 置き換えらE涜飜気靴任后と、メーE靴燭里任后 理解して貰えたようです。

Some people welcome it as the Messiah for the confused world, while the others accuse it of being a possible hotbed of crime. After university I worked in an art gallery (for three months), then advertising (for three weeks), then at the Times Literary Supplement (for three years), and then (for four more) at the New Statesman. In 1980 I quit going to an office and became a full-time writer.

良い本とは、

アン・マクドナE秒「青春英EーE璽鼻 （岩波ジュニア新E277) (ISBN 4-00-500277-3, \650)

16歳の時に交換留学生としてE椶旅盥擦燃悗鵑瀬ナダ出身のマクドナE さんが、13年経って（1996年)
高校在学中当時のE楔E呂任聾世ど修擦覆った思いを、やっとの思いで マスターしたE楔E如表した本。

英E鯆糠やり、いっぱしのE膕箸箸覆蝓暇にまかせて、小遣い稼ぎに(?)、 E椰佑梁膤惷擬が表した英E椶覆鼻足元にも及ばない本です。そこには、 フE奪轡紊併廚い汎E椰佑梁燭が知らない英Eの青春のE海洌E海泙 真需昔ように輝いています。何のてらいも何の気取りもありません。キーE ードには、street smart とか politically correct とか、TIME ESSAY にも現EEーE璽匹「そE鮴垢Eんだ会話」と「彼女の丁寧な説明」 で与えらE討い泙后

良い本は、時たま、大人が近づかないコーナーにひっそりと静かに在E です、ええ。

また、彼女のE楔EもあE嫐で勉強になE"I don't want to cause any trouble, but I was talking to Brenda earlier and she was ....." （アンは最初全部英E破椶鮟颪、そE鮗分でE楔E北したみたい）の "I don't want to cause any trouble."を「問題を起こしたくないんだ けどさ、.......」と訳しています。E椰佑世辰燭蕁崘班立てたくないけ どさ」とか「ごたごたさせたくないけどさ」とか訳すのだな、とかその辺E も面白い。彼女は、直訳、意訳という言葉をE蠅濃箸辰討泙垢、彼女の意味すE嫐がつまE殘なんだよ、と 言いたいとこ税す。

「翻訳の技法」155頁にあE冓犬世姥てkaokiが和訳してみました。(青色部分) 和訳前に飛田訳は見てません。そして、E未鬚海海砲竿簣します。(A) or (B) どちらかがどちらか。 こうやって並べてみて皆様、多分、英E椎とか英E軌蕕箸の課題E 思い起こさEE任靴腓ΑPreference もありそうだって。(^!^)

I have my vivid memory of marching with a gang of kids through the streets of a small town in Pennsylvania where I lived in 1945, banging a pot and shouting in celebration of the news from Hiroshima. I can't report that my own celebration --- I was ten years old --- was shadowed by moral anxiety. Although there are many words that have more than one meaning, ambiguities are in practice rather rare, and indeed a certain amount of ingenuity is necessary in many cases even to demonstrate that ambiguity is possible. This is true whether the polysemy exists (1) in the spoken form alone or (2) in the written form alone or (3) in both, as we can illustrate with textbook pairs like:

(1) She hates the (sight, site) of the building.
The (sons raise meat., sun's rays meet.)
(2) She couldn't see the pattern for (tears[tearz]., tears[tierz].)
(3) She can't bear children.

複数の意味を持つ言葉は多いが、そのために曖昧さが現実に問題になE海箸呂爐靴偈であE掘曖昧に受け取らEE院璽垢有E世E海箸鮗┐垢里任垢蕁△舛腓辰汎をひねE要があEE腓多いのも事実だ。こE蓮多義性が(1)話し言葉だけにあE里、(2)書き言葉だけにあE里、(3）話し言葉にも書き言葉にもあE里にかかE蕕此曖昧さが問題になE海箸肋ない。こE麓，里茲Δ謀儀薪な対で示すことができE

The artificiality of such ambiguities reflects the fact that, like a combination lock, a very special selection of items must be simultaneously present before we can achieve the effect of having a particular set that is capable (as in (3)) of three interpretations:

(He, She, It, They, The pillar)
(didn't, were, hadn't, would, can't)
(bear, bearing, borne, born)
(the load, Stockhausen, fruit, children, being interupted)

In specifying precisely the relations that exist between the items selected, one is not merely able to show how easy it is to avoid ambiguous usage and hence how the language 'economy' is able to tolerate a lexicon that is permeated by multiple meaning; more importantly, one can show how the multiple meanings have developed and how it would appear, in fact, that the metaphorical principle underlying of human language. If all our words could be interpreted in several ways, communication would be in danger of breaking down. But the paradox is that unless words are allowed to take on different interpretations, communication would again be in danger of breaking down. Since the analogical (in effect, metaphorical) links between our expression units would be missing, and it is the forging of such links that underlies linguistic creativity.

The purpose of the present paper is to explore the relationship between two meanings of become, a word which illustrates in a typical and yet interesting way the place of multiple meaning in English: valuably extending the lexicon without muffling our expression with ambiguity or introducing a new sign, arbitrarily unrelated to any other in the language. Indeed in this instance, ambiguity seems only marginally possible, and the punster's contrivance shows clearly through the few labored examples one encounters:
