| Akagi Jinjya / Outline |
| Akagi Jinjya Origin |
People in Japan at 6-7 century believed that there were Shinto gods at
the top of high mountains, or at big lakes. For exsample, Sengen Jinjya
at Mt. Fuji, Akagi Jinjya at Mt. Akagi, Myogi Jinjya at Mt. Myogi, ....
The origin of Akagi Jinjya was that people build a small Shinto shrine for the god of Mt. Akagi at
some place at Mt. Akagi in 6 or 7 century, however, there are no evidence.
But, old documents, Shinto-Syu and some others said that people re-build a new Shinto Shrine for Akagi Daimyojin at lake side of Ohnuma at top of Mt. Akagi in 806 (Daido 1). After that,
Akagi Jinjya Shinto Shrine enshrined Jinkaku-Shin (new type of Shinto God who is a
human when he live; many of them were family person of Yamato Chohtei or
the top person of airmy for Yamato Chohtei (the routs of the Japan Emperer
family)).
