Gojou Eiji
The president of KAGUYA, a Japanese fable story dance company.
Gojou Eiji was born in 1976, Kanagawa Prefecture.
At age of 3, he started to practice Nihon-buyo (Japanese Classical Dance) of Hanayagi-ryu, the biggest and oldest school of Nihon-buyo.
In 1995, at age of 19, he was admitted to MINBUNREN Fork Arts Association, where he studied and researched Japanese fork arts from all over the Japan.
In the same year, he began exploring Nihon-buyo practice under the guidance of Gojou Eisho, the 2nd Iemoto(headmaster) of Gojo-ryu who is highly respected in the field of Nihon-Buyo.
From 1995 to 2002, he performed all over the country as a member of MINBUNREN dancing team. In 1995, performed in Taiwan and from 2000~2002, performed in Beijing, Nanjin, Dalian, etc as a member of MINBUNREN delegates to China.
In 2001, at age of 25, he gained a professional dance name as Gojou Eiji .from the Gojo-ryu.
In 2002, he established KAGUYA, a Japanese fable story dance company.
His ultimate goal is to communicate with different cultures and people through his performance of beautiful Japanese classical dance all over the world.
As his first step of his mission, he performed at pre-Olympic festival at Lefkada of Athens Olympic in 2003. |
