Ten years after Episode I, Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman), now a senator, resists the creation of a Republic Army to combat an evil separatist movement. The brooding Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) is resentful of his stern Jedi mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), tormented by personal loss, and showing his emerging "dark side" while protecting his new love, Amidala, from would-be assassins. Youthful romance and solemn portent foreshadow the events of the original Star Wars as Count Dooku (a.k.a. Darth Tyranus, played by Christopher Lee) forges an alliance with the Dark Lord of the Sith, while lavish set pieces showcase George Lucas's supreme command of all-digital filmmaking. All of this makes Episode II a technological milestone, savaged by some critics as a bloated, storyless spectacle, but still qualifying as a fan-approved precursor to the pivotal events of Episode III. --Jeff Shannon
| Star Wars - Episode II, Attack of the Clones : 現地ハリウッド市民の評価 : 英語批評版 : Native Evaluation | | | | | Rich DVD set, very good but not great movie / 2005-12-23
This is a very good movie but not a great movie. Given the budget, the hype, the expectations, and the anticipation, it's human nature for some to be a bit disappointed, but overall it is a very good movie when putting everything in context. When you are expecting an A+ movie and you get a A- movie, you maybe disappointed, but when you compare it to the rest of the movies out there, it definately stands out. The DVDs offer a rich set of bonus features, which will be greatly appreciated by Star Wars fans. | | | | | | | | | | | | Attack of the Lightsabers -- Green Yoda???? / 2005-12-22
There are way too many Lightsabers in the movie. It is just ridiculous. Everybody and their mom has a lightsaber. I thought they were supposed to be a special weapon. I just don't even care anymore. Oh by the way did you notice Yoda has a GREEN lightsaber. Did you also notice Yoda himself is GREEN????? ...Yoda wears a robe all the time??? Yoda lives in a small Hut..alone...far from federal agents...around some plants....that are GREEN. Coincidences I think not. Yoda definately burns down. Late. | | | | | | | | | | | | AotC is teh kewl! / 2005-12-22
Star Wars - Episode II: Attack of the Clones while not being quite as big as it's successor Revenge of the Sith, not as fun as it's predecessor The Phantom Menace and not as well balanced as the Original Trilogy is still a worthy genre offering and ten times better than the overrated mess that is Spider-Man that came out the same summer. The main issue I have with AotC is that the love story which should have been the centerpiece is given short shrift. George Lucas cut the scenes focusing on Natalie Portman's Padme Amidala character that showed why she fell in love with the more impulsive Anakin and as a result left us with plenty of questions as to why she fell in love with him. In short her character arc was far less rich than it should have been. Luckily through the magic of DVD we see now why she fell in love with him and it escalates AotC and with it RotS beyond very good and into the realm of excellence. Still I only give AotC 3 stars because while excellent it is still one of the weaker films in the series along with Return of the Jedi. | | | | | | | | | | | | The worst star wars EVER!!!!!!!!! / 2005-12-20
Well to open this review I have to say that no matter how good the action was it still didn't save this movie. This film continues the battle beetween the jedi and the sith. The movie also covers the origins of the clone army and such, including Anikans turn to the dark side. Now to tell you the dialouge in this film is sooo bad you can hardly bear to listen to it! Further more I cannot understand how George Lucas managed to make the old trilogy so good and stunk-up this new one? This movie is rated PG for suatained sequinces of sci-fi action\violence. and it deserved the rating. Though they could have made it PG-13! The good thing about it though is there is no languge and only some brief kissing beetween Anikan and Padma. Overall score: The worst star wars EVER!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Lucas definitely falls flat as a phosphate soda in the production of this movie. Anakin continues his worminess. Padmテゥ Amidala's role is much better, but what the hell motivates her to fall in love with Anakin? Can't support his mental health, much less the woman who becomes his wife. Anakin is definitely a candidate for schizophrenia meds if he actually thought that Amidala would fall in love with him. Lucas just needs equilibrium pills, because obviously just looking at the script must have made him incredibly sick. It would me. The Battle of Geonosis is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely a grand finish and a show-stealer. Count Dooku's role is just a bit defunct, but not quite. After all, he needs to start the war.
