Koji Sakata Hiroshima, Japan Nov. 18th, 2008

CHAVO SR. & CHAVO JR.

Hello, Mr. Chavo Guerrero Sr.

I am one of the funny fan of you, because I am WWE fan and I became a fan of Mr. Chavo

Guerrero Jr. first and became a fan of you after that.

I visited a Chavo Jr. fan's apartment and I saw your matches of your old days

in his room on videotape and I soon became your fan, too, because you're so speedy

in the ring and have many wonderful technique that is very high level.

Your match against Fujinami, Kimura and Misawa are wonderful with your perfect skill

and excellent construction of the match, that made me your big fan at once.

Needless to say I am a big fan of your son Mr. Chavo Guerrero Jr., too.

In your website I knew you are now writing a book of your wrestling career

and I strongly hope you write about Mr. Chavo Guerrero Jr. many things.

I hope to know about you of course and also about your son more & more.

I hope the book will be published as soon as possible.

Thank you so much Chavo Sr. and please close your eye for my bad English !

Please keep well also in 2009, 2010 ..... and more & more & more !

MY MEMORIES OF CHAVO

Dear Chavo, my name is Joe Perez.

As I recall in the 70s and the 80s, I remember the title match with Harley Race, wow !

Me and my dad were there in Los Angeles, Calif. at olympic auditorium -

a classic place where the olympic games were held.

I also remember the championship match with superstar Graham, the super match was great.

I just saw your interview, the hot shots; video - I never knew you were this famous.

Your wrestling career then was better and more scientific.

I personally met your brother Eddie Guerrero, God bless him.

He autographed picture he gave me here in L.A. Calif; and told me you are great! with a smile.

I have a video of your wrestling matches, but i don't have your autograph yet - hope to have it in the future.

The grand olympic auditorium in Los Angeles California - I wish wrestling was still there.

Good Luck  and Happy Birthday to you !

Wataru Saito Fukuoka, Japan Nov. 7th, 2007

No.1 CHAVO FAN IN FUKUOKA

First of all, I'd like express my sincere condolence to Mr. Sadaaki Takano,

who always has answered to my questions on Chavo with great care.

I hope another friend of mine Tadahiko to keep on this website

getting over his sorrow and burden.

I have been in Shanghai, China these six months and until I visited this website yesterday,

I didn't know Chavo was on Japanese ring this April.

Watching the pictures of Tadahiko with Chavo in Tokyo,

I'm so much envious of his fortune as well as

I'd like to share the joy with him.

When Chavo visited Fukuoka in 1980, I had a chance to have a handshake with him

and in 1985, I even could have a short talk with him.

Both are the very nice memories of me in the adolescence.

Of course, I also enjoyed his matchs so much anytime.

I believe the match against Dragon Fujinami in 1980 here in Fukuoka was one of the best.

I'm so much sorry for my absence to your last match in Japan,

but in my heart, you always are an active fighter forever.

Thank you Chavo for the greatest memories !

Fred Almanzar San Juan, Texas June 18th, 2007

MEMORIES OF CHAVO GUERRERO

My name is Fred Almanzar,

I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, more specifically in Hidalgo.

My parents got divorced when I was five years old.

I was the smallest of 8 bothers and sisters.

Me and my older brother Hondo would stay up late on Saturday night

to see our fair share of Texas All-Star Wrestling.

I remember wrestler such as Scott Casey, Bob Sweetan, Gino Hernandez,

Tully Blanchard, the Grapplers and I can mention many more, but I won't.

I saw Chavo Guererro one time I can't remember who he was wrestling, but I told myself wow.

He was fast and did move that made me go wow.

He was also a Mexican/American just like us.

So the next time we played wrestling, I was Chavo.

I remember seeing an episode of wrestling he was being interviewed.

He had just beaten Ted Debiase fought some championship.  I was glad to hear that.

After that I keep on reading about him in magazine that my friends would let me barrow.

I remember saying, "one day I will meet Chavo".

Twenty-five or so years past when finally I met him.

It was in Brownsville Texas, pre-Eddie days.

Chavo was wrestling for the International Wrestling Federation (IWF).

I had met R. Bruce Tharp earlier that year (he was the promoter/owner)

I was doing custom wrestling figure for some of his wrestlers.

I saw some glances of Chavo, I said to myself you have to meet him.

Since I was allowed into the back stage area, I saw him standing outside of his dressing room.

He looked at me and smiled.  I don't remember how I started the conversation

I asked if I could take a picture of him.  He agreed, and let me take several.

I do custom wrestling figures and wrestling belts,

I asked if he could take a picture with a belt I had made.  He agreed.

After that he wrestled, he lost the IWF championship that day.

I think the way he lost was a bunch of xxxx,  but it happens some times.

Still today I cherish the pictures and memories of that night.

There are person you look up, and then when you meet them, they were not what you expected.

This is NOT the case with "classic". He was very, very nice.

I am happy to have met him. This was truly a pleasure.

Some months later I heard the terrible news of Eddie Guererro.

I like all of the wrestling world was deeply sadden.

WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony was when last I saw Chavo.  He look good.

That when it sunk in, "Fred, you met a legend."

I appreciate Chavo and all his family for  what they have done for the wrestling business.

I recently found out by reading in this web site that Chavo is now a Christian.

That makes me very happy too.

If there is something I can say to Chavo if I ever see him again is "Thank you".

I was truly a pleasure meeting him.   Thank you.

MY MEMORIES OF CHAVO

Chavo Guerrero was the first wrestler I was absolutely attracted by.

He had top speed, top skill and top ability and was numero uno in California

both in popularity and in status.

When the west coast was his principal field, while I was only 12 - 14, I clearly learned

he made the arena only one body - just like a magic.

For me, the Twin Devils were Chavo's most hateful opponents then.

They always were so sly and often changed places each other, cheating referees,

so that Chavo must've fought against two and I felt uneasy all the time.

Still I can say that really was a good ol' memory for me right now.

To my regret, his youngest brother Eddie Guerrero passed away recently,

I honestly hope Chavo to be in good health - to live long.

Tomohiro & Nao Aichi & Tokyo, Japan Feb. 27th, 2005

Howard Martinez Eugene, OR July 2nd, 2004

WITH ALL MY THANKS TO YOU, CHAVO !

When I was a little boy, I was livin' in South Houston, Texas and it was one of the biggest pleasure for me

and my kid brothers to see the wrestling matches at the enormous Sam Houston Colosseum.

There were such superior wrestlers in the great Mid South area as Wahoo McDaniel, Ted Dibiase, Dr. Death

Williams, Terry Gordy and the cheerful "Junkie Yardie Dog" ..... but for us three, the most favorite fighter

definitely was Chavo Guerrero, who also was the crowds' favorite, along with JYD, without a doubt.

Although Chavo generally was known as the legitimate-style wrestler, I love his passionate fighting style to

the dirty tactics used by such villains as Buzz Sawyer, Rick Steiner, The Freebirds and The Fabulous Ones.

In one match at the Colosseum, Chavo took Low Blows twice by Dibiase, but he put up with the severe

pain, made a counterattack and won a great victory. It truly was a desperate struggle and I'll never can

forget the deep emotion I had that night. I still remember the day when Chavo got the U.S. championship

belt beating Dibiase, too - Chavo's father, Gory Guerrero, also was there that night and the joy and the

excitement of the crowds were too terrific for words.

I'm sure Chavo, over all, was a prominent fighter who could "adapt" to every kind of wrestlers with his

agility, flexibility and plenty of amazing techniques. I think that was his natural gifts and his fortune, too.

For the pleasure, the excitement and the unforgettable memories you've given us through your fight filled

with tremendous pro spirit ... I thank you so, Chavo !

MY MEMORIES

Before the Von Erichs, before the Harts and before the Windhams, the first family of pro wrestling were the

Guerreros.  Chavo was the first of this famous family I saw and he along with Mando and Hector helped make

the Olympic (along with Madison Square Garden and the Omni) one of the cornerstone arenas for professional

wrestling.  Also, his feuds with Roddy Piper and Moondog Mayne were what made me tune in every Saturday

afternoon for the weekly shows from the Olympic.  Even today the Guerrero legacy is still going strong with

Chavo's brother Eddie and his son Chavo Jr..  Chavo definitely helped cultivate my love for wrestling.

MY MEMORIES OF CHAVO

Chavo Sr. was among my great-grandfather's ( And is among my own ) favourites. He saw him several times

on his travels to America and Mexico in the 70s, and had several tapes, all of which were left to me,

and hold pride of place on my shelves. I still watch those tapes today and learn from them to benefit

my own career, and Chavo Sr. is one of those guys that I watch over and over again.

I'd just like to say for the record how much respect I have for the great man, and if I ever get the money

together, I hope I can make a trip to the school to hone my skills wirh the legend himself.

Kenneth Palmer San Bernardino, CA Oct. 13th, 2003

MY MEMORIES OF CHAVO

Hello, my name is Kenneth Palmer. I reside in the city of San Bernardino, Ca. It is approximately 60 east

of Los Angeles. I am writing because I am a longtime fan of Mr. Chavo Guerrero Sr. I first began to watch

him wrestle on a program called "Lucha Libre". It was broadcasted on KMEX Channel 34 in Los Angeles

on Wednesday nights for ninety-minutes. This was around 1975 going into 1977. I was about 10 or 11 when

I first saw it and discovered Chavo. As a kid, he was my hero. I would love to ask him a few questions about

some of his feuds he was in at the Olympic. The most memorable was the one between he and Ernie Ladd.

Carlos Omar Campero Los Angeles, CA May 24th, 2003

 GREAT MEMORIES

I grew up five minutes from the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles. My father was a professional wrestler

in Cd. Juarez ( Omar Campero ). Wrestling was in our blood. We would watch Chavo take on Rowdy Piper,

it seemed like every Wednesday. My father watched Gory bring his sons to the arena's in Juarez when he

was just a teenager. We love to remember the great matches between Chavo Guerrero and Dory Funk Jr.,

Al Madril, Rowdy Piper, Rivera, etc. . It was a great time for me and my brothers, cousins, and neighborhood

friends. Thank you Chavo and the whole Guerrero Family for your valiant efforts to entertain us and provide

us with such great memories. God Bless You.

for close to 10 years. He is an amazing man ! I would love for him to know that although it's been a while,

he pops into my thoughts often. He was very special to me and my family, and will always be in my heart !

If there's any way this could be passed on to him, that would be great ! I'd like him to know I made it through

the cancer and I'm teaching middle school. Sabra is 18 and graduating in 2 months !!!

I would love to hear how things are with him these days. Sending my love, Julie.

MY MEMORIES OF CHAVO

I was fresh out of high school, spent one semester playing college football (juco) , and I somehow ended up in

a wrestling office in San Antonio, Texas. Chavo, along with Manny Fernandez and Al Perez, pretty much took

me under their wings and taught me the wrestling business. There were others as well, but these three passed

on a great deal of knowledge. All three were tough and very disciplined minded, but very good teachers.

Chavo and Manny used to do a drill where they would see who could get the highest on a "hip-toss" bump.

A lot of the things that they taught me, I still try and get across to the kids that I train now.

I wrestled one time against Chavo, and all I could do was listen. Very good experience for me. Chavo had a

great deal of pride in his work, and it has come over to myself as well. Which in turn I pass on to my students.

I thank Chavo, Manny and Al, for taking time out to teach me.

Rudy Boy Gonzalez is a 20 year veteran, that has spent time wrestling in Mexico, Malaysia, Puerto Rico,

the most heralded wrestling schools in the Southwest area of the United States.

Ken Timbs Atlanta, GA May 12th, 2002

MY MEMORIES OF CHAVO ( Click on the photo to view the full size picture. )

I was privileged to wrestle Chavo in the Texas area, Florida area and again in Mexico. He was truly

a professional and a pleasure to wrestle. His talents were many. He wrestled amateur and well as pro

and was able to wrestle any style that was needed to get the match over.

I also am proud to call Chavo my friend. We sat together in Mexico and shared meals. We rode together

and shared the memories of wrestling. I am glad to know such a great wrestler as Chavo Guerrero.

WE LOVE YOU, CHAVO !

How are you ? My name is Naoki. I am writing to express my sincere thanks to you.

Chavo vs. Fujinami was really exciting ! I watched Chavo vs. Fuchi in Kuramae Sumo Arena.

I watched video of Chavo beat Terry Funk. Very Strong !

Chavo was junior heavy weight, but he defeated Race, Dory, Terry ... Marvelous !

German Suplex ! Sunset Flip ! Your technique was really excellent. We call Chavo a man of genius.

Please take care and good luck. My best wishes to you and your family.

Martin Chavira Pomona, CA Nov. 18th, 2000

THANK YOU, CHAVO

I'm a fan of Chavo for the last 25 years, I was just 12yrs old when I saw Chavo for the first time.

He was wrestling in Cd, Juarez Mexico. I lived 2 blocks away from the wrestling arena where Mr. Gory

Guerrero used to have his wrestling shows. This is the place where the Guerrero family introduced

themselves as wrestlers. I saw Chavo and brothers Mando, Hector become wrestlers.

I remembered Chavo and Mando vs. El Dorado Hernandez and Margo Villa in the year 1973. Gory also

had a television show in channel 5 in Juarez, Mexico. My mother used to take me and my brothers to see

the Guerrero family in action. I was raised watching wrestling in particular the Guerrero family.

When my mother decided to relocate from Mexico to Los Angeles, California, I never expected to see

Chavo wrestling in the Olympic Auditorium much to my surprise he was there on a Wednesday show, that

was one of my happiest day of my life. I feel I'm associated with the Guerrero family for so long, I tried to

see any local or glamorous wrestling cards that includes the Guerrero name.

I just saw Chavo here in a local arena in Pomona, California, and I can tell you it felt like my childhood dream

once again. I always kept a low profile whenever I met Chavo or any other Guerreros.

One of "My memories of Chavo" was when he was introducing his son to wrestling Chavito jr. in the Olympic

Auditorium in California, I approached him and shook his hand, and said Chavo the best wrestler in the world,

the best product of Mr. Gory Guerrero, and his response was my father was the best, and I said he sure was.

I saw his production first hand in the great Arena Internacional in Juarez. Mr. Gory had just passed away.

Thank you Chavo for all the great memories.

 Manuel Rendon U.S.A. Sept. 3rd, 2000

CHAVO, MY FAVORITE WRESTLER

I used to watch Chavo in Southwest Championship Wrestling. I was a young kid at the time,

and Chavo was my favorite wrestler. He was a great face at the time. I still have fond memories

 of watching Chavo wrestle.

Luigi Restrepo Miami, Florida May 28th, 2000

THANK YOU, CHAVO !

When I was a little kid, I would sit entranced by the wrestling matches on TV. Chavo Guerrero was

always my favorite fighter. I remember my mother laughing when she saw how furious I was when

Rody Piper attacked Chavo as Chavo was being honored by the fans with a Rolex watch.

I can still remember how angry I was. Chavo always represented honor, respect and goodness.

I will always hold a place in my heart for Chavo Guerrero. Thanks Chavo !!

Tadahiko Osaka, Japan Jan. 1st, 2000

THANK YOU, CHAVO !

The exciting bloody match against Tatsumi Fujinami on Oct. 20th, 1978 ( the very first day I saw Chavo

"live" ), a special battle with Andre the Giant in the New Japan ring in 1979, the grudge fights against

Atsushi Onita in the All Japan mat in 1981, and several heart-warming episodes he left behind .....

There are tons of great memories of Chavo in my mind and it's almost impossible to mention them all.

Sadaaki and I saw him wrestle before our very eyes more than 10 times and I have to say we've never

come home with a disappointment, since Chavo always threw himself completely into his fight.

What a speedy carriage ! What a skillful technique ! And what an amazing fighting spirit ! Win or lose,

without exception, Chavo showed us all of his ability and never cut corners, that brought us fans to visit

the arena repeatedly. I've got to say, if not for him, my life must have been dull and insipid. Yes, I have

been cheered up and encouraged so many times by his professionalism and the passion to the wrestling.

Chavo, though you may never know how much I thank you, you've surely lighted up my life and given me

strength to carry on. I sincerely thank you for everything you've given to me.

Steve Doyle Costa Mesa, CA Nov. 12th, 1999

CHAVO, MY HERO

Chavo Guerrero is my hero wrestler and his extreme battles against such villains as Terry Funk,

"Rowdy" Piper, Black Gordman and El Goliath are the irreplaceable memories in my adolescence.

Chavo was adored by fans both in and out of the ring. In the ring, he devoted all his energy to make a

deep impression to us. His fighting spirit, bravery and the unremitting effort .... I can't tell you how all

these things encouraged me so strongly. On the other hand, out of the ring, he always was a tenderhearted

gentleman, dealing with us fans with a friendly smile. I've never heard of anyone speaking ill of him, and

I'm sure it is no wonder that Chavo was named by so many wrestlers as the most respectable person.

Whenever the beautiful memories of Chavo come to my mind, my heart is filled with a warm feelings of

the candle light, that never fade away.

Chavo, thank you for sending me a lot of love, happiness and the wonderful memories !

Michael G. Olivas Burbank, CA Oct. 1st, 1999

THE FREDDY BIASE CAGE

I remember one time Chavo was fighting a brutal match with the Hangman, when the Hangman broke up

a piece of a 2 x 4 wood from the top frame of the cage and struck Chavo on the forehead. It was a

bloody match and dirty tactics used by the Hangman, but still Chavo was victorious in this violent match.

I am not sure but I think that this was the match that Chavo's wife was in the audience with Chavo Jr.,

when I look at her, I saw her cover little Chavo's eyes, because of Chavo's face was bloody and Chavo

was very daze and exhausted. But on this hard match, Chavo got his adrenaline going just by the chanting

of the fans, chanting "CHAVO ! CHAVO ! CHAVO !".

Michael G. Olivas Burbank, CA Aug. 24th, 1999

THANK YOU, CHAVO !

In the early 70's, I used to go to the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, Ca. with my brother and

neighborhood kids to see the most entertaining wrestling of all times. Win or lose, he still was our local hero.

His skillful wrestling and professionalism in and out of the ring always made him a roll model. He was always

up to the challenge to defend his title to some of the toughest and strongest wrestlers in the business. But

one of biggest feuds he had was with Rodey Roddy Pipper. They used to settle a lot of their feuds in the

Freddy Biase cage. A lot of Chavo's toughest matches was in that steel cage, it became the place to settle

your differences. Chavo, you always entertained my brother, the local kids and myself, always to the best

of your ability. Thank you for all those great memories.

Hirofumi Kudo Osaka, Japan Aug. 22nd, 1999

THANK YOU, CHAVO !

On Feb. 26th, 1984, my friend and I were waiting for Chavo at the back door of the prefectural gymnasium

in Osaka. As you may know, Chavo was always so kind to us fans, but we felt a little bit uneasy that night,

since he lost the International Junior Heavyweight title in the match held just half an hour before. "He may

be in a bad mood. He may be depressed ......" But we felt relieved as we saw him appeared in front of us.

( Chavo wore a beard and was so COOL ! ). We were just over anxious. He was courteous as usual as he is,

and responded to our voice of cheer and even autographed to several fans. I said, "Chavo, please take the

belt back . We are always on your side." and he simply replied "Thank you, boy." Yes, Chavo answered just

to me. Can you guess how deeply moved and how happy I was then ? Although Chavo sometimes wrestled

in Japan as a "heel" wrestler, the true fans know that he really isn't, and his gallant figure and his heart-

warming human nature are still living in our hearts. Thank you, Chavo. And please remember there still are

many fans of you here in Japan, who think YOU ARE the greatest Junior Heavyweight wrestler in the world

 wrestling history.
