July 26, the 0th day

From today, I'm going to write diaries for almost 2 weeks.
As I don't keep diaries in daily life, I wonder if I can keep writing...

Anyway, the trip starts today.
I'm going to take the altitude of the North Star at the Science Museum (Tokyo, Kitanomaru).

Though today is the 0th day, I run 32 km by bicycle -- from my house to the Science Museum, then back to my house. Normally, the rider is supposed to ride his bicycle a lot before the trip to get used to the long distance riding.... but this is the first time for me to ride my bicycle more than 10 km.
I found it very fun to pedal the bicycle! I must check the safety very carefully as I'll use roadways mainly. I don't want to have any accidents during the trip.

At the Science Museum, there came many staff and friends -- from Globe Measurers ("Hakaritai" Group), Team Chimons (Live Show "Universe"), the Science Museum, etc. Thank you very much!!

We went to the rooftop and..... Where is the North Star???
I know that my eyes are weak, but I'm shocked that I couldn't find the second-magnitude star...
I used the measure for this project...but it was difficult to shoot the star.......OK! I gotta it!!
But the wind came and couldn't read the altitude...
...this happened several times...
It's better to use the stand to fix the measure.

The measurement is done by 3 persons; one shoots the star, one reads the altitude, and the other writes down the altitude. So I have to find at least 2 persons to help the measurement. I'm looking forward to the encounters during the trip.

At last, we had a departure ceremony. I asked the staff of the Science Museum to write a message on the banner. Oh! I got the idea!! I will ask for the messages on the banner during the trip!!

Then I left the Science Museum with the banner, a little anxiety, and full of anticipation.
