There’s a good chance you have some fantastic resources your audience would love. If you don’t, get thinking. What can you build that would really interest your market? That others would share with their readers? Making use of the assets your business has will be a hook for getting attention – building links is much easier when you have content worth linking to. 301 links are permanent and tell Google that page B has replaced page A. 302 redirects are temporary. Even if you never change them, you’re telling Google that you intend to change them. Markup logos, images, addresses, phone numbers, business name, type of business, reviews, prices, software, and anything else that’s relevant to the site. Clients will thank you and visitors will appreciate it. Both search engines and readers like frequently updated websites. Although you will find hundreds of researchers who indicate the best time and days to publish your content, it’s more important to simply be consistent with your publishing and to publish about the same amount of content each week. The rule of thumb is to use each keyword combination once per 100 words of content. While most SEO gurus preach that a web page should include 300 to
1,000 words of unique content, it’s important to remember that you’re writing for people, not robots. Keep it natural.
Are all your contact details up to date?
You never want to leave anyone (especially search bots) guessing what your content is about. That’s why you need to name URL paths using easy to understand language that spells out the content precisely. To mark a link as a nofollow link, it gets rel="nofollow" as an attribute in the HTML code. Links with that attribute will be ignored by ranking algorithms that use links to determine the position of a web page. Website crawl-ability and making a website searchable goes beyond making sure Google can “crawl” the website. Understanding how a website’s users (including Google) are navigating a website is key to building an information architecture. Building the information architecture in a way that mirrors their thought processes will help both user types discover information on a website. If you create high-quality pieces of informative content on your website page-to-page, you will rank. The basic premise of the “less is more” mindset is simple. If you optimized your website for 100 different keywords, no more than 10 of them would ever drive significant traffic to your site (and of those, two or three would drive the lion’s share of the traffic). The other 90 keywords would give you little drips of traffic here and there but nothing more.
Backlinks are about much more than Search Engine Optimisation
A web page can be given an immediate freshness score based on its publication date, which decays over time as the content becomes older. If you are putting content on your own site, try to keep things fairly uniform. This can help you start building your own following and establish your own voice. Of course, that shouldn’t stop you from doing something that has more of a “shock factor.” Something a little more controversial can draw in big crowds, which translates to a lot of clicks and comments. I have seen my share of websites where the owner told me that conversion was low or that nobody filled out their contact form. But the owner had no idea how many people got to his/her website. No idea what the main landing pages or exit pages were. One way to approach SEO is to write catchy headlines. In 2012, Google began to penalise any site found with bad backlinks and alongside this, it can ban your business from Google Adsense. This means that anyone with links gained unethically through black hat SEO tactics, for example, paid link building, overuse of affiliate links and duplicate content to get to the top of Google, now find themselves faced with a penalty. Search engines also take into account the traffic generated by links from social
networks. It is assumed that these so-called “social signals” can influence a website’s
ranking at least when search queries relate to something current.
Is there a different product strategy that would attract more visitors?
Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "The heading structure of your pages is one of the very important aspects of on-page SEO. It defines which parts of your content are important, and how they’re interconnected." Local sponsorships can be another course of action for building local links. You can sponsor or donate to any local club/organization or society. Also, you can choose to sponsor a meetup group. Content that empathizes with prospective customers’ emotions can guide them through their journey as a buyer. SEO is all about ranking high on search indexes, which can’t happen without you creating new, quality content. As you create new pages, you create opportunities for new rankings and more reach. This, in turn, leads to more keywords you can rank for. Remember, though, that quantity should never trump quality. Better content gets you better rankings. From a quality page point of view, duplicate content is a low-quality indicator. Boilerplate text is another low-quality indicator.
Boost Dwell Time
A great way to get your site more visible is to begin posting blogs on your site. Blogs increase the size of your site and give you a way to connect with your visitors. This, in turn, increases your search engine visibility, which will give you many more visitors. Off-page SEO factors are as important as on-page SEO factors. To have a successful SEO optimisation, both should be done. Earlier it was still easy to rank by building spammy links but, after the penguin and panda updates, its much difficult. If you do make manual changes to an XML file that has been
automatically generated for you, you may wish to visit a
sitemap XML validator to check its correct formation prior to
moving on to referencing and submission. Another one of the best SEO tactics creates even more links to your site to improve your SEO. Local SEO practices and building profiles on business directories can build online authority for your brand and make a bigger digital footprint for your website. When URL parameters are generated using site filters, there is a high risk of creating issues that impact the ranking of the page.
Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)
Whenever I speak to people about SEO, the number one question that I get asked is, “What’s the most important factor to rank number one in Google?” The methods vary from technical practices you can achieve behind the scenes on your website (we tend to refer to this as ‘on-page SEO’) to all the promotional ’off-page’ approaches you can use to raise your site’s visibility (link-building, social media marketing). The ability to measure the success of your SEO efforts is crucial. Tracking and managing your website’s data can be done through Google Analytics and Google Search Console. SEO closely aligns with so many marketing channels, business decisions and user behaviour that the potential your website will be 100% optimised is slim, to nil. As long as you don't do reciprocal linking excessively and these reciprocal links are on topic and "make sense from a user standpoint”, link exchange is not something bad.
