Do you review and analyze your competitor’s website? You should. I do. I always keep an eye on the business across the street, or in my case, across the internet. Today, many sites use secondary menus to accommodate for additional content. Loads of site-owners can’t help but state that they “can’t squeeze all they have to say in just a few pages.” Subheads are another overlooked SEO tactic and should be used whenever possible. If they consist of valuable keywords that are relevant to the article, they won’t only boost the article’s search value, they’ll also provide your audience with a much-needed mental rest point. Link building is still an important part of your company’s SEO strategy. Instead of trying to get as many links as possible, proper link building now focuses on relationship building and by providing valuable information. Text without headings is terrible to read. Headings and subheadings are the most important anchor points a reader has in the text. People tend to read those more carefully and use headings to determine what a text is about.
Search engines use a number of factors to determine how to rank content
A slow-loading website not only tests the patience of your visitors, but also risks a high bounce rate because of a significantly worse user experience. If you maintain a blog, of course you want the traffic to your blog to grow. But what if it doesn’t? What if the traffic to your blog is (slightly) decreasing? What do you do? People won't link to your content unless they see it. At the same time, you need the right people in front of your content; not everyone is a potential linker. A title tag tells both users and search engines what the topic of
a particular page is. The title tag should be placed within the
head tag of the HTML document. Ideally, you should create a
unique title for each page on your site. Content marketing is now part of a successful SEO strategy. Google has refined what it considers good content in recent years. It it now almost impossible to get away with any gimmicky content-based tactics, such as high quantity content without quality and substance. Search engines prefer those who produced the best, most valuable content, spawning the adoption of content marketing among SEOs — and content is still king today.
Include bios of different staff at different locations
Many webmasters only want to rank well for single words
(rather than chains of words). Search engines have made it clear: a vitally important part of the future of search is “rich results.” A fully mobile-optimized website will be easy to read and play smoothly on even the smallest mobile device screens. Images should be able to be easily enlarged and the navigation should be smooth and easy to follow. How do site changes effect SEO? The sitemap tells search engines about all the pages on your site, even those that might not be easy to find. A sitemap is very helpful if your site is dynamic or if it has pages with images or rich AJAX that can be hard for bots to discover. It is also helpful for new sites with few links, or sites that have numerous pages not well linked. Sitemaps help search engines do a good job of reading your website and finding your site’s content. If you have a simple HTML-based site, moving hosting providers is not
a particularly difficult process, whether you are doing it yourself or asking
your web-design firm to do it for you.
No-index or Remove Thin Pages
According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "When launching a new website that replaces a previous version, use 301 Redirects to tell the search engines that your pages have moved. Doing so will retain your hard-earned Google Page Rank and your search engine positioning should stay more or less intact. If you do not use 301 Redirects when launching a new/replacement site, search engines will still have your old pages contained in their index, and both search engines and visitors seeking out your content will encounter broken pages when they try to visit your site. This will result in lots of 404 Page Not Found errors. When this happens, your search engine rankings will most likely drop." Consumer behavior has rapidly matured with the growth of the online world. Customers access the internet through a variety of different platforms and channels. Two thirds of shoppers report using more than one channel when deciding to make a purchase. You may not have the resources to create locale sites for each country or
language you want to target. In that case, add Google Translate to your site to
ensure that your website visitors can see your content in their language (even
if it’s not a perfect translation). It turns out the phrase ‘digital marketing is constantly evolving’ is about as unique to the B2B industry as an efficient rail service to the UK. Meta descriptions are technically HTML attributes that offer concise explanations of what a webpage is about. They can be used on search engine result pages to show a preview for a webpage. They are far less of a direct ranking signal as they once were (almost not at all these days) BUT they remain important because – when Google chose to use the suggested meta description – they are the effective ‘sales pitch’ to users to click on your webpage.
The best way to escape Google’s Panda penalty
Does this really matter? I would say yes. Noindex is a meta tag implementation that is sometimes used on search pages. Since some implementations of filters use the same technology as search pages, you may inadvertently be hiding some of your most valuable pages from search engines. To increase your CTR, create a custom description that
describes what your page is about and what the reader
can expect to get out of visiting your page. You also want
to include your target keyword. Think about the searcher’s
intent when crafting this description. The search engine result pages fluctuate because of what visitors are looking for, and it is very difficult to remain in one position for long. Links are a crucial factor for high rankings in Google's organic results. They also help you to get higher rankings in the local results.
Longer content gets more shares
You can’t expect Google to see you as an expert on a certain topic when you have only written two sentences about it. This indicates to Google that your page probably isn’t the best result to match the search query. Users on your site should be able to navigate from a general page (like the homepage) to pages focused on specific content. Add text-based links between pages to make it simple and easy to go from one page to another. Once you have created onsite engagement, it is time you begin your new online marketing and SEO optimization campaign. What used to be a handful of on-page, off-page, and architecture factors has evolved into hundreds of signaling attributes fed through a complex algorithm that is constantly being refined and learning from your behavior. Your online competitors may not be who you think! By taking a broad look at your sector from an online perspective will help uncover potential opportunities that you are missing out on.
